Permanent Ability is an award winning, original Los Angeles based Rock/Funk/Alternative band founded in 2008 by 3x Emmy Award Winner, and Best Frontman Award Winner Brian Lanese. Dubbed the lyrical Mark Twain due to his relation to the writer, Lanese is joined by Best Bassist Award Winner Adam Smith, guitarist Nick Gordon, and drummer Allan Ritter.
The band has rapidly accomplished numerous achievements which include, the overwhelming success of their independently released debut album “From the Womb to Hollywood” featuring legendary bassist of George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic. Cataloging radio friendly hit songs like: "Little Black Bra," "Hey Now," "Randall's Parking Lot," & "The One." The album has sold more than 1000 units globally in just three months with the help of major retail distributers such as iTunes, live performances, and using free online networking sites for promotion.
In December, Brian Lanese and Adam Smith were awarded in the categories: Best Male Frontman, and Best Male Bassist in Hollywood, winning them The 14th Annual Rock City News Awards "THE ROCKIES." Permanent Ability has been recognized by ESPN, due to their highly energetic music for usage in sports highlights, and also nominated for "Artist of the Year" by theFMradio.com.
Permanent Ability peaked steadily at 11 on Myspace's Unsigned, Funk category, representing the entire State of California. As well as, 30,000+ hits from their most viewed, and requested Flashrock webcast performed earlier this year on www.Flashrock.com
The band is a national act, but known to frequent world famous LA venues such as: House of Blues, The Viper Room, and the Whisky A Go Go always displaying explosive live performances, cataloguing radio friendly hit songs. With influences ranging from LL Cool J to Jimi Hendrix, Permanent Ability has put their stamp on funk-rock music, setting them apart from other bands.
Eff cookie cutter bands and what's "IN" right now. Permanent Ability brings FUNK back to rock!
Press for Permanent Ability:
“Permanent Ability has an original sound that you don't hear often anymore; with "old school" pop and slap bass grooves that will have you on your feet jamming along. They are entertaining and full of energy with intense live shows that set them far apart from the competition.” - Corruption Magazine
"Permanent Ability is a fresh upcoming band with highly energetic stage shows, as well as, that killer funk you in the ear sound. They are successfully dug up the fossil of funk and brought it back to LA." - James Lee The Gig Hollywood
"Permanent Ability has an original sound, and puts their stamp on that old school funk-rock music that is menacing with energy. They are one of those bands you hear once, and your instantly a fan because of their catchy songs. If I had an award for the best interview for 2008 Permanent Ability would be at the top." - Big Smile Magazine
"Cool songs that deserve industry exposure." - Band Promote.com
"There may only be four bad ass songs on the EP, but trust me each song is a hit and insanely catchy. Say goodbye to all that emo crap and make some room for something new. Permanent Ability is where to start!" - theFMradio.com

ZEBRAS IN PUBLIC & THE GAMBLING DISTRICT NOAH SMITH & GLASS HALO Friday, July 24
We have a great feeling when we get together. We play our styles, we feel our sounds, and we live the music. Each band member has a strong musical past, as artists we grew up wanting to be, well, artists. We want to give you the feeling we have with our music. We feel solid and unbreakable when we play together. The crowd feels it too. And our feeling needs to get out there - no more racism! The racism of the world should be null and void already. Thats an ignorance that needs to be eradicated by now - regardless of the race, things are getting out of hand. There is no black. There is no white. There is no color - Period. We believe that we ALL are zebras. United. We need you to come out and spread the word and the music around and be Zebras, too.
Everyone know that you and me and everyone else is a zebra.

MIKE PERKINS Saturday, August 1
I hear music everywhere. Always have. Beats and melodies are constantly swirling around in my head. Although I technically write my own songs, I feel like it's more accurate to say that I find them. I often hear songs in my dreams, wake up, and then hurry to my guitar before the subtle nuances of the music escape me. I also enjoy noticing rhythms in the physical world. Whether it's a pattern in the clouds, bands of wind blowing across a field of tall grass, birds talking to each other, the changing of the seasons, a crackling campfire, babies turning into old people, or the sound of my dogs snoaring, rhythm is EVERYWHERE. On stage, I feel like a kid that gets to play on an infinite jungle gym..... always finding something new to swing on or climb. When playing music, the only limitation is your imagination. You can go anywhere you want. I think that's why I tend to sing with my eyes closed. I feel like my best songs are still ahead of me, but that's probably what every musician thinks. Otherwise, the "jungle gym" would start to get boring. Maybe outer space is God's jungle gym?

SUPER-MASSIVE REGGAE BAND Every Thursday @ The Mad Frog NO COVER 21& UP with COLLEGE ID Want to email somebody a link to this photo?
SUPER-MASSIVE is an All Star Sextet featuring members of Rays Music Exchange, the Zionites, DLO(Da LEMMINGS OnSombol), and Grand Oversoul. Formed in the Spring of 2005, the group, consisting of Tim Hensley(drums), Alonzo Leggette(percussion), Nick Blasky(bass and vocals), Andy Lenihan(keys), John Gentry Jr.(guitar), and Jeremy Lacinak(vocals and guitar), have fused a unique sounding perspective on an original roots music form. Like their predecessors who fused their own Island rhythms with R & B, Ska, and Dub. Selecter has added their own twist by bringing in newer elements such as Jazz and Rock, with extended improvisational sections, making for a truly new and fresh variation. New CD dropping this Summer. Drink Specials Domestic Draft $1 Pint $4 Pitcher Import of The Month $2 Pint Import Draft Whiskey $3.oo 7 & 7 Cincinnati's finest and most popular Reggae crew, Super-Massive, will unveil its first album with two release parties this week -- Wednesday at Stanley's Pub 9/17/08 and Thursday at The Mad Frog 9/18/08(where they'll be joined by special guests Jah Roots, from Missouri). Super-Massive -- formerly known as Selecter -- contains several skilled, veteran musicians from bands like Da Lemmings OnSombol, Ray's Music Exchange, Zionites and Grand Oversoul, so it's no shock that they've created a solid, eclectic collection of Reggae on their self-titled disc. Reggae grooves prevail on the album's 10 tracks and the pristine vocals are drenched in Reggae soul. But, as the group members' varying backgrounds suggest, there are a lot of other genres that inform the band's sound. Rock, Jazz and Funk weave in and out of the supple rhythms like a boxer, but it is done so seamlessly, it all just feels like one big funky Reggae party. The band seems tailor made for not only Reggae fans, but "Jam band" fans as well, with flowing arrangements that leave a lot of room for extended jams and improv. With the new CD's crisp production, exceptional performances and outstanding creativity, Super-Massive makes it be known with this album that they are not only the best Reggae band in town, they are also among the best of any genre.
